The Food Market at MGM Grand
Centrally located in the MGM Grand expansion at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, the Food Market provided six distinct dining experiences including hand-tossed wood oven pizza, classic New York-style deli specialties, an American burger bar, Asian fare and traditional New England favorites from the Durgin Park Oyster & Chowder Bar. Expanding on a schematic design provided by Ark Restaurants, Maier Design Group fashioned the client’s concept into a fully conceived and detailed design, using architectural detailing and elements to showcase the six different eateries. Constructed in a three month time frame under difficult conditions, this $2,995,000 project was a winner of a 2008 Excellence in Construction Award.
When Tribeca Cafe’ in Glastonbury, CT was looking to expand its popular lunchtime hotspot to include a nightclub and increased kitchen operation they called upon Maier Design Group. The renovation and addition included a brand new martini bar and dining room as well as an expanded kitchen, doubling in size and allowing for a full dinner menu including specialty food, wine, and spirits
Fay Da Bakery
Beginning as one store in Manhattan, Fay Da has expanded to 8 locations in the greater New York City area. The creation of this contemporary play on a traditional Asian bakery at the Foxwoods Resort Casino marks Fay Da’s entry into the New England market. Featuring sleek stainless steel trim and an internally lit canopy, which is meant to invoke the clay tile roof construction of traditional Chinese architecture, Fay Da at Foxwoods serves as a bold flagship store and an auspicious introduction to New Englanders unfamiliar with the growing brand.
Boutique Jewelry Stores
As part of the renovations to Foxwoods Resort Casino performed during the construction of the adjacent MGM Grand, Maier Design Group designed boutiques for three of the world’s most exclusive jewelers. Each of the three shops opens on to the main Foxwoods concourse as well the boutique beside it. Design of graceful transitions between the stores while maintaining the brand integrity of each jeweler’s unique space proved to be a hidden challenge within this project.
The Foxwoods Watch Company
Located on the concourse of Foxwoods Resort Casino’s Grand Pequot Hotel, the Foxwoods Watch Company was designed with the concept of the store as display case. An uninterrupted glass façade allows visual access to the store’s impressive selection of Rolex timepieces. The Watch Company’s interior and adjacent display wall consist of wood paneling, light boxes and display cases whose curvilinear form plays off the themes established in the Hotel’s Lobby.
